Monstera peru—also known as Monstera karstenianum—is a rare and striking climbing aroid, prized for its thick, leathery leaves with deep emerald color and dramatic, textured veining. Unlike other Monsteras, this species does not develop fenestrations; instead, its glossy, sculpted foliage gives it a bold, architectural look that adds depth and sophistication to any plant collection.
This variety thrives in bright, indirect light, which enhances its deep green color and leaf texture. It prefers a chunky, well-draining soil mix and consistent moisture, allowing the top inch of soil to dry slightly between waterings. As it matures, Monstera peru can be trained to climb a moss pole or allowed to trail beautifully from a hanging pot.
