Mottled Spurge is a unique and sculptural succulent, admired for its upright growth, angular stems, and distinctive mottled patterning in shades of green, cream, and gray. Its unusual markings and architectural form give it an exotic, cactus-like appearance, although it belongs to the Euphorbia family rather than being a true cactus. As it matures, its branching growth creates an increasingly dramatic living sculpture.
This plant thrives in very bright light, with some gentle direct sun helping maintain strong, compact growth. It prefers a gritty, extremely well-draining cactus or succulent mix and minimal watering—allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings. Like other Euphorbias, it is especially sensitive to excess moisture and should never be left sitting in wet soil.
- Light: Very bright light to partial direct sun
- Water: Allow soil to dry completely between waterings; avoid overwatering
- Growth Habit: Upright, branching succulent with angular, mottled stems
- Pet Note: Toxic if ingested; milky sap can irritate skin and eyes—keep away from pets and children
With its mottled coloration and bold architectural form, Mottled Spurge is a distinctive collector’s plant—perfect for adding unusual texture, desert character, and sculptural interest to any indoor plant collection.
